How-To Replace a Broken Tile
A broken tile can ruin the aesthetic of a floor or wall, but you can fix it without hiring a pro. Carefully remove the broken pieces using a hammer and chisel, taking care not to damage surrounding tiles. Clean the surface thoroughly and remove old adhesive. Apply a layer of thin-set mortar and press the new tile firmly into place. Let the mortar set, then apply grout between the tiles. Wipe away excess grout with a damp sponge and allow it to cure.
Pro Tip: Tap gently with a rubber mallet to ensure the tile is level. Wear safety goggles to protect your eyes from flying shards.
